Stars and performers gather at Prithvi Theatre’s 39th Memorial Concert

Many well-known performers from the fields of music, theatre, and film gathered on Tuesday night at the Prithvi Theatre to celebrate the 39th Memorial Concert that Kunal Kapoor and his son Zahan had organised. Triveni was performed this year by Ustad Zakir Hussain with Dr. Jayanthi Kumaresh on veena and Kala Ramnath on violin.

Kunal Kapoor said as he beckoned the performance’s creator, Zakir Hussain, to the stage: “Its only in the last six seven months since we have opened up and we started travelling. The number of awards, recognitions, that Zakir Hussain has been given during this time is astounding, including the Padma Vibhushan.” The audience erupted in a deafening roar of applause as Ustad Zakir Hussain came on the stage for the show.

Kunal further added, “For 39 Years Ustad Zakir Hussain has made this evening super special – in energy, in quality, excitement and the most superb performances by some of the most talented musicians of the country – and the tradition goes on, without fail – each year surpassing the previous with what seems to be an even better evening! The combination of his talent, the other musicians’ talent and the space, make it a unique invaluable treasure in the world of live performances.”
