The United States did not issue permission for a special flight to evacuate Russian diplomats, who were ordered by the US authorities to leave the country before the end of the month, an official said Representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova. Her comment was published on the department's website.
“Washington marked another step hostile to our country by not issuing permission for the arrival in the United States of a special flight of Russian state aviation, which was supposed to take employees of Russian foreign agencies and their families home,” — Zakharova said.
The Foreign Ministry promised to respond to the “defiant behavior of the American authorities.” and in case of further refusal to allow a special flight for the export of diplomats, take countermeasures, including “asymmetric”, said the representative of the department.
In the case of the special flight, we are talking about diplomats whose departure the US authorities demanded in September 2021. Then Zakharova said that Washington wanted the country in two stages— until January 30 and until June 30, 2022— 55 diplomats and administrative and technical staff left.
The US State Department refused to consider the demand for the departure of diplomats an expulsion, explaining this by “ensuring parity between the diplomatic missions of the United States and Russia.”
The problems for the diplomatic corps of Russia and the United States have been going on since 2016, when the American authorities blocked two country residences of the Russian mission in New York and Maryland, and also expelled 35 diplomats. Later, the consulates in San Francisco, Seattle and New York, as well as Russian trade missions, were closed.

After As a result, the US Consulates General in St. Petersburg, Yekaterinburg and Vladivostok were closed in Russia, and the use of the warehouse in Moscow and the dacha in Serebryany Bor by the US Embassy was suspended.
In recent years, Russia and Western countries have announced several times about mutual expulsions of diplomats. In April, against the backdrop of a special operation in Ukraine, this was once again reported by several European countries at once. In May, Russia responded to their decisions in a mirror image.
